Biology

Lives in coastal waters. Found on vegetated sand bottoms and more frequently on coral bottoms. Occasionally found at depths of at least 540-600 feet (180 m and 200 m). Large adults are usually solitary. Feeds mainly on sea urchins, crabs and mollusks.
