Artificial Reef Species Sampling
Artificial reefs are man-made structures that provide food, shelter, and resources for various fish and invertebrate species. The University of Mississippi needs help identifying the fish species found at each public artificial reef location as well as which areas are preferred by anglers. Despite being widely used for fishing, it is unclear exactly what species and what amounts of each species are occurring.
Individuals interested in assisting this initiative must have:
- Access to sites (personal boat or charter)
- Measuring tools (length and weight)
- GPS services on (Smartphone; to capture coordinates of reef site fished)
- Camera function (Smartphone)
